Summary Job Description:
The AVP Derivatives Operations Specialist will be responsible for executing the day-to-day back office and middle office functions related to the Bank’s interest rate derivatives products (swaps and options.  This role is essential in that it supports the front office in the delivery hedging products and ensures superior customer service to our community bank and credit union client base throughout the country.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manages the complete lifecycle of the interest rate derivatives products offered by the Borrower Loan Protection group.  Complete life cycle includes the review and booking of trades, monitoring confirmations and settlements, and generating and processing periodic payment notices as well as the reconciliation of all these life cycle events. 
  • Ensuring appropriate compliance with regulatory requirements governing derivative transactions. 
  • Maintain accurate documentation of derivative trades related to borrower loan protection products. 
  • Generate reports for internal stakeholders, regulators, and auditors as required.
  • Reconciling trade and contract data with external sources to ensure accuracy and completeness of records. This may involve reconciling data with counterparties, and internal systems.
  • Identifying inefficiencies in trade processing and risk management processes and proposing enhancements to improve operational efficiency and reduce risk.
  • Ability to assess and make recommendations for process flow improvement.
  • Assist in preparation of various board, financial reports, and ad hoc report request.
  • Promptly response to customer inquiries.

Education and/or Experience
  •  A minimum of four years of related experience.
  • Degree in Economics, Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of interest rate swaps, similar derivatives and best practices/industry standards pertaining to hedging products.
  • Audit and operational risk analysis experience is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Working knowledge of Bloomberg or another interest rate derivatives system.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand complicated financial products and necessary legal documentation supporting the transactions.
