Summary Job Description:
The Product Manager – Payment Operations is responsible for overseeing payment strategy objectives to include development, launch, and lifecycle management of payment products and services. Collaborating across technology, compliance, operations, and business teams, this role ensures payment solutions meet customer needs, support business goals, and comply with evolving regulatory standards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop a data-driven, rolling three-year product strategy and roadmap for Payment Operations.
- Identify market trends, customer needs, operational efficiencies, and regulatory and accounting requirements to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
- Define product specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria to ensure clear communication and alignment with PCBB strategies.
- Ensure that whole product actions, including pricing, contracts, service delivery, marketing collateral, and other components as needed, are consistent with product features and support business objectives. Lead data-driven negotiations with external vendor partners as well as assist with payment related client agreements as needed.
- Lead the end-to-end implementation of product development, including data integration and deployment.
- Conduct user acceptance testing, gather feedback, and iterate on product features and functionalities to ensure optimal user experience and customer satisfaction.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors to address technology debt, feasibility, and to ensure timely and accurate delivery of solution components.
- Work closely with development resources to ensure execution to three-year product strategy and roadmap.
- Ensure development best practices are followed.
- Continue Operations support of other PCBB products.
- Collaborate with risk management teams to identify and mitigate potential risks associated with Payment Operations.
- Monitor key performance indicators and metrics to evaluate product performance, identify areas for improvement, and make data-driven decisions.
- Gather feedback, address concerns, and prioritize product enhancements by collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaboratively, align payment product vision and priorities with stakeholders to drive business objectives.
- Develop go-to-market strategies and messaging in partnership with operations management, sales, and marketing teams.
- Gather feedback, address concerns, and prioritize enhancements through stakeholder collaboration.
- Conduct training sessions with stakeholders to ensure successful product adoption.
- Strong understanding of payment system infrastructures to include domestic and cross border payments, digital wallets, APIs, settlement, compliance, and fraud prevention.
- Experience managing projects using Agile or Scrum (Transparency, Inspection, Adaptation) methodologies.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage cross-functional teams and complex projects.
- Knowledge of global and domestic regulatory requirements (e.g., PCI DSS, ACH, wire transfers, ISO 20022).
- Experience with cloud-based payment platforms and SaaS.
- Familiarity with emerging payment technologies (e.g., real-time payments, cryptocurrency/stablecoin solutions).
- Demonstrated success in launching new digital payment products.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, SQL, and visual analytics.
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and quality.
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, computer science, or a related field
- Minimum of 7 to 10 years of experience in banking product management, with a focus on bank or credit union payment initiatives.
