Senior Developer, MicroStrategy

Job Summary

The Senior Developer, MicroStrategy is responsible for hands-on role in design, development in MicroStrategy reporting and BI tools and delivering successful MicroStrategy projects. The Senior Developer must have a strong understanding of the architecture, design, development and deployment of scalable, reliable, redundant business intelligence systems and data warehouses using the MicroStrategy BI tools and analytical database platforms.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop analytics solutions using MicroStrategy toolset: self-service reporting structures, dashboards, and reports for internal and external use
  • Model or architect MicroStrategy Schema Objects for the BI applications including schema/modeling, dashboards/documents/reports + mobile application
  • Formulate and recommend standards for achieving maximum performance and efficiency of MicroStrategy solutions
  • Work with IT and business teams to understand requirements, conduct analysis and communicate solution options
  • Work with business user to make sure data structures and content support analytics and reporting requirements
  • Develop reports and dashboards to monitor BI applications providing insight on usage patterns and recommend application/system improvements
  • Support MicroStrategy applications in Production by providing Level 3 support, which includes provisioning and implementation of fixes to production defects and making light enhancements
  • Champion data quality, integrity and reliability by designing and promoting best practices
  • Contribute and participate in MicroStrategy design and code reviews
  • Assist in the planning and delivering of multiple projects
  • Work with software vendors to open defects, log issues and seek resolutions and/or patches
  • Evaluate incidents/defects, investigate, identify root cause and come up with solutions to address them
  • Other duties as assigned

Education/Qualifications/Experience:

Candidates must have deep technical expertise and hands-on MicroStrategy implementation experience including:

  • 8- 10 years MicroStrategy Architecture
  • 5 years MicroStrategy Security Administration
  • 8 years MicroStrategy Development
  • 5 - years Data Warehouse (Preferred)
  • 5 years SQL (Preferred)
  • 1 year Security (Preferred)
  • Extensive experience with MicroStrategy schema definition, design, implementation and maintenance
  • Extensive experience with MicroStrategy?s dynamic dashboard, report development, and project design: facts, attributes, hierarchies, aggregation, and portal integration
  • Hands-on experience with MicroStrategy SDK for customizations of both the Web & Mobile Apps
  • Working knowledge of BI architecture, data warehousing concepts, and data visualization best practices
  • Experience with application object development, including metrics, templates, and filters
  • Experience in configuring, governing, trouble shooting, and tuning the Intelligence Server
  • Extensive experience with MicroStrategy Security Administration
  • Experience with relational structures, dimensional data modeling, SQL skills, Data Warehousing and reporting techniques
  • MicroStrategy certifications preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and effectively communicate details with all levels of management
  • Adept and proactive at problem-solving
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to develop solutions to problems independently and through facilitated team discussions
  • Ability to prioritize workload, multi-task, meets deadlines and manage competing priorities under pressure
  • Experience with Financial Services
